Sex Selection
Choosing The Sex of Your Baby

NW Andrology & Cryobank offers the Ericsson methodology of sex selection at both of our locations. Current statistics show a three to one chance when selecting for female, and four to one chance for male selection. For additional information on this method of sex selection use the following hyperlink to access the site of GAMETRICS LIMITED at www.childselect.com. Gender pre-selection can not guarantee the sex of your offspring. It can increase the odds of achieving the preferred sex.

The Ericsson methodology has been controversial in its success, but is well established and data has been published in respected scientific literature and reproductive journals.

Home sex selection kits offered on the internet and elsewhere that claim success rates exceeding 90% have no basis in the respected scientific literature to date despite the claims.

Methodology

Husbands/Spouse fresh sperm with insemination

The husbands' sperm are processed in the laboratory prior to the artificial insemination. This processing takes from three to four hours, and provides the physician with a highly motile but limited subpopulation of sperm with which to use for intrauterine insemination. Once your paperwork is on file and approved, along with your doctors release, we are able to schedule lab work. If you are travelling to one of our labs from out of the immediate area we are able to line up insemination services as well. Insemination charges may vary, but in general a cycle with insemination will run about $500.

Lab work weekdays........$375
Insemination, IUI...............$125 approximate cost depending upon doctor/nurse practitioner availability.
Weekends and Holidays are charged at +20%

Donor Sperm Specimens

As of 2007, we no longer offer sex selection services on our commercial donor sperm frozen specimens.

Pregnancy Rates
Couples are as likely to conceive by these methods as they would by intercourse when using fresh specimens of good quality for IUI. In couples with no fertility problems, approximately 80% of women achieve pregnancy within six months, while 20-30% will be successful on the first or second attempt. We can not guarantee that a pregnancy will be achieved.
Safety
There is no greater likelihood of birth defects, miscarriages, or problems with pregnancy in comparison to natural conception. Over 2300 children have been born through this technology.
